Bolts gift their fans a huge road win and #2 seed

The Chargers annihilated another opponent winning their 10th straight game while locking up the #2 seed in the AFC and a 1st round playoff bye.

This game was never close.  After the Titans put up the 1st points of the game on a FG, San Diego put up 21 unanswered points of their own on their way to a dominating 42-17 win on the road against a team that was fighting for their own playoff spot.

This has got to be the most dominant Charger team heading into the post-season.  After their slow 2-3 start, no team has been able to stop their potent offensive attack.  They just have too many weapons for any team to contend with.  V-Jack covered?  look for Malcom Floyd.  Floyd covered?  get it to Gates.  Gates covered, throw a short screen to Sproles.  You get the idea.

Their defense has not received much credit but they haven’t given up many big plays.  Cromartie and Jammer are taking care of business downfield.  Weddle is a magnet to the football and Shaun Phillips is forcing turnovers while leading the team in sacks.

SD’s Special Teams have also been doing an incredible job.  Is their anyone out there better than Kaeding or Scifres and Osgood is headed to another pro bowl.

Norv Turner and Ron Rivera have turned this team into a dominant force in the NFL.  This is the most complete team I’ve seen from SD.

Our 2010 post-season tickets arrived Christmas Eve.  Anything less than a SB will be a tremendous letdown.

The Chargers do it again!

The Bolts  just keep winning.  With Denver donking their game at home to the Raiders 20-19 and this win over an emotional Cincinnati team, the Chargers capture their 4th straight AFC West Division title.  They’re on the fast track for a 1st round playoff bye and #2 seed in the AFC.

This was a hard fought game ending on a last second winning FG by Nate the Great.

The Chargers travel to Tennessee to play the Titans Christmas night on NFL Network.

The Bolts are en fuego!

You can’t easily tell by the final score of 20-17 but the Chargers dominated Dallas from the get go on all sides of the football.  The Bolts offense made big plays when they needed to and our defense seemed to know what Wade Phillips and Romo were trying to do before each play.  The goal line stance with the Cowboys on the Chargers 1 yard line, 1st and goal shutting down Marion Barber on 4 consecutive runs was awesome.  Another big win for the Bolts who are playing with a lot of confidence after starting the season 2-3.

Me and the missus were in Las Vegas this weekend and kicked it at Lagasse Stadium at the Palazzo Hotel with a gang of internet friends we’ve met over the years.  It’s a pimp place to watch the games. Definitely check it out if you can.

The Broncos and Bengals tanked this weekend giving the Chargers a good shot at locking up the #2 seed if they can beat Cincy this Sunday at Qualcomm.  The last time Cincy traveled west they lost to the lowly Raiders in Oakland.

Things are looking pretty good for the Bolts right now.

Chargers win 7th straight 30-23 vs CLE

The Missus and I were in Cleveland visiting family and  attended Sunday’s game vs the Browns. It was a clear day but 33 degrees with the temp dropping quickly.  Midway thru the 1st quarter it was down to 28 degrees and hit the low 20’s by the end of the game.

BRRRRR…

Cleveland scored a TD on their 1st drive of the game.  Their first TD scoring drive to start a game in their last 34 contests.

The Chargers went on to score 27 straight points.  Cleveland made it interesting scoring 16 points in the 4th quarter but the Bolts were able to claim possession of the ball on their second consecutive onside kick recovered by LT.

Before the game we were well aware of LT”s opportunity to pass Jim Brown with at least 56 yards placing him 8th on the NFL all-time rushing list.

Midway thru the 4th quarter LT did just that with an 11 yard  burst up the middle.  He pounded his heart and pointed to Jim Brown saluting him in his suite.  Jim Brown was waiting in the San Diego locker room after the game to congratulate LT.

Later LT said “I’ve thought a long time about this day. If I was going to pass Jim, I wanted to do it here in Cleveland, and I wanted to talk to him in the locker room after the game.” (reported by AP Writer Tim Withers)

Unless I somehow missed it, there was no mention on the scoreboard about LT passing Jim Brown.  I wasn’t even sure he did until I got back and checked the box score. Still, I’m glad we were there for it. LT finished the day with 64 yards on 20 carries and a TD.

Highlights from the game.
